This is really something. The dark blank faces of the dead soldiers encourage the viewer to imprint their own emotions on the image. As well as the very effectively expressed political theme, the visual elements are outstanding.

There's something strangely familiar about the style of this picture and I can't quite place it...something reminiscent of war films where everything is drenched in shades of camouflage and blood. The bit in Full Metal Jacket with the female sniper. The battle scene in Legends of the Fall (which breaks my heart every time I see it).

Thankyou for the reply, so few people seem to take the time to put some thought into their comments, I really appreciate it (especially coming from someone so busy as yourself). I haven't seen Legends of the Fall though, I'll look out for it.
